Liz Sunde

Co-Founder, Music to Life

As the daughter of Noel "Paul" Stookey from the 60's folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary, Liz Stookey Sunde has a lifelong connection to musicians who use their art to advocate for social change. After decades as a nonprofit and small business consultant, she turned her focus back to the power of music, witnessing how it could be a hands-on tool for community-based activism.

Liz now leads the national nonprofit Music to Life (MtL) which she co-founded with her father to help musicians become sustainable social entrepreneurs. Through initiatives like the Musician Changemaker Accelerator, MtL offers training, mentorship, and resources to artists who want to create measurable societal change. Since 2020, the accelerator has supported more than 40 musician-driven community programs, helping artists launch projects that address issues such as climate advocacy, civil rights, and poverty. These projects, often launched with seed funding from MtL, have a remarkable average return on investment of 300% within one year.

Liz is a passionate advocate for what she calls "musician-changemakers," believing that artists are perfectly positioned to create locally grounded solutions to pressing issues and make a living while making change. She has also served as a keynote speaker and produced online and live multimedia shows, championing the idea that music can be both a form of entertainment and a powerful force for building bridges and transforming communities.
