Jennifer Newman Sharpe
Jennifer Newman Sharpe is a New York-based entertainment attorney. Most recently, Jennifer worked as General Counsel and Head of Business Affairs at ONErpm, a leading, global label services and digital distribution company and one of the largest music multi-channel networks on YouTube. During her eight years working with ONErpm, Jennifer oversaw all legal and business affairs needs for the company, supporting the company’s expansion to almost 400 colleagues across 25 offices in 15 countries servicing more than 750,000 artists and labels. She was a trusted business advisor to the CEO and had a deep understanding of and involvement with the inner workings of all departments of the company. Jennifer led an international team of in-house attorneys, managed numerous outside firms, and presided over a broad range of complex legal and business matters, including advising on digital music strategy, negotiating and reviewing license agreements with major music platforms, drafting agreements with artist and label clients, and evaluating and launching new business opportunities.
An award-winning advocate for gender equality in the music industry, Jennifer currently serves on the advisory board of the non-profit organization Women in Music, after being on the Board of Directors for nearly a decade with five years as Vice President. Jennifer has also co-founded a number of music tech start-ups, including Sparkplug, an online marketplace for musicians to rent instruments from each other, which was acquired in 2019, and Cosynd, a collaborative contract administration platform for creators of intellectual property. Prior to joining ONErpm, Jennifer was in private practice, representing a variety of clients such as independent record labels, recording artists, writers publishing companies, tech startups, and music producers. She is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and an adjunct professor at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts.
