Jonathan Zalben

Jonathan Zalben is a music supervisor and composer, and runs the music licensing company, First Frame Music. Recent work includes music for “Axios on HBO,” as well as HBO Documentary Films “Alternate Endings: Six New Ways to Die in America” directed by Matthew O’Neill and Perry Peltz. Zalben also music supervised Jon Alpert’s Emmy-nominated Netflix documentary “Cuba and the Cameraman.” In narrative film, Zalben has supervised Bruce Thierry Cheung’s “Don’t Come Back from the Moon” starring James Franco and Rashida Jones, Courteney Cox’s directorial debut “Just Before I Go” (Starz), and Adam Goldberg’s “No Way Jose” (Sony). Zalben wrote original music for the HBO mini-series “15: A Quinceanera Story” directed by Matthew O’Neill and Thalia, “Life on Parole,” for Frontline/PBS, as well as the documentary short “Alone” directed by Garrett Bradley, which was on the Oscar shortlist and won a Sundance Jury Award. Zalben scored the Oscar-nominated HBO documentary “Redemption” directed by Jon Alpert and Matthew O’Neill, as well as the HBO Documentary “There’s Something Wrong With Aunt Diane” directed by Liz Garbus. He has also written music for many narrative features for companies including Sony, Netflix, Lionsgate, and Starz.
