Sharon Tapper is Owner/Founder of Pivot Music Group, provides business development and creative services to independent music publishers. Even in times of lockdown, music proved that it is without boundaries. 2020 saw her putting together Ryan Tedder (One Republic/Interscope) and Giuliano Sangiorgi (Negramaro/Sugar Music) who joined forces to create "Better Days-Giorni Migliori" by One Republic featuring Negramaro (gold certified Italian single). She also oversaw two virtual writing camps that clearly illustrated the innovation and adaptability of songwriters and publishers during challenging times. NYC3 Songs was an international songwriting camp that took place in June 2020 over three days, across seven different time zones, within 11 virtual studios per day, and with 45 creatives participating. The MPC/AIMP's "Create 49 from the 49th" virtual song camp took place in November 2020 over three days, across five different time zones, within 18 virtual studios per day, with 29 Canadian creatives and 53 US & international creatives participating.
Sharon is the former SVP Music Publishing at Razor & Tie Music Publishing and VP Creative at Kobalt Music Publishing. During her four years at Razor & Tie, Tapper and her team were responsible for many hit singles including four Country #1s (Blake Shelton’s "God Gave Me You" & "Over," Jake Owen’s "Alone With You" and Tyler Farr’s "Whisky In My Water"); five times platinum-certified "Home" performed by American Idol Winner Phillip Phillips (capturing the #1 spot on ten Billboard charts); Mary J Blige’s "Suitcase" and Jessie J’s "Masterpiece.” During her eight years at Kobalt, Sharon was responsible for signing artists such as Slash, G. Love, The Dresden Dolls, Gomez and Harry Connick Jr. as well as publishers Arthouse, TVT, Red Bull Media, House of Hassle (now Rough Trade), Reservoir and Razor & Tie. Since 2008, Tapper has been an active member of the NY Chapter of The Recording Academy. Elected to multiple terms as Governor and Secretary of the Executive Committee. Currently serving fifth consecutive year as Co-Chair of the NY Chapter Advocacy Committee. Nine years ago she Co-Founded the New York City Creative Community (NYC3), she was recently re-elected to the Board of the NY Chapter of the Association of Independent Music Publishers (AIMP).
