Apryl Peredo

Artist Management, Inter Idoru & Fuchsia Connect

Tokyo-based, American-born, Memphis-raised, Apryl Peredo is a multi-faceted music industry professional. She titles herself as an Artist Manager, but she does more than simply manage. With first-hand knowledge of the ins-and-outs of the ever-changing music industry -- in general and Japan-specific -- and a clear vision of how to help musicians further their careers, she hosts workshops on social media use, publishing, best booking practices, touring regionally and overseas, and long-term planning and goal-setting.

Her early experience as an awful bass player in a punk band led to a position as an A&R intern for EMI, Radio Promotion Assistant and seasonal studio manager for Cotton Row Studios in Memphis TN. Later she began hosting a radio show and co-coordinating weekend music festivals and events in Dallas, Texas. Now in Tokyo she runs the gamut from: co-writing and editing English lyrics for Japanese anime, pop and rock bands; assembling ensemble bands for special projects; and hands-on artist development. She has worked with large festivals such as Countdown Japan! and Warped Japan as well. She is regularly called on by those making short and feature-length films when an “expert” is needed on Japanese modern music to suit a scene. Projects in the pipeline include a Tokyo-based showcase festival for both Japanese and overseas bands. This will be a partnership project with a venue family in the Shibuya area with the hope to provide another unique musical opportunity for international artists wanting to get a taste of the Japanese music scenes, as they would Korea/Zandari, Thailand/BMC and others. Annual “Memphis Night” event for domestic Japanese bands influenced by the “Memphis Sound” plus bands specifically from Memphis Tennessee joining together. In addition to her main work with Japanese domestic artists developing within Japan, she also helps non-Japanese artists who wish to come experience, explore and grow within the Japanese music market by coordinating and managing tours, developing entrance strategy and approaching labels and distributors.

Be Present Everywhere: Intros & Connections

10/12/21, 8:30 PM

"BPE," inaugurated at Mondo 2020, is an offering of committed global speakers/experts networking and sharing their businesses and missions with each other and with the global music community. It was created to celebrate, educate and forward ongoing music business through the pandemic, while most of us are working remotely. It's what has kept many music conferences, "conferences," while operating virtually; the interactions, introductions, contacts shared, networking have shown the value and necessity of community in a uniquely isolated time. With many thousands of intros and personal (virtual) meetings between delegates and well over 250 speakers from many countries; speaker and delegate contacts distributed globally; communities connected, networked and shared; we'll never know all the "results" of these sessions. These can be lifetime, life and business changing relationships and they have been useful and enjoyable, with intensity, care and hilarity during a shared global and for most, very personal, crisis. Join the fun and participate.

Global Music Marketplace

10/12/21, 3:00 PM

We will discuss technology, mission, business, solutions, Q/A, trade, culture and innovation; looking from above and from within the global connection points we call music. How, why, where, what and who it all is and the benefits of thinking globally and acting locally. How choices, change and relationships drive our careers, businesses and societies in this connected and fragmented world. You'll hear the personal and business missions of the panelists, learn about their markets, their solutions and activities, all with the intention to inspire and to help you build yours. From Japan, Taiwan, Brazil, Cyprus, NYC and India, hear, learn, question, think anew about our places, inter-relationships, purposes and all our ways (and yours) of challenging stagnation through music, education, experience, teamwork, vision and action.
