John Poppo

Founder, Pop Productions Inc.

John Poppo is a recent past Chairman of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences, better known as the Recording Academy and home of the GRAMMY Awards.

He is the founder of Pop Productions Inc., a full-service music company, and a longtime veteran of the commercial pop music industry. His career has included the roles of producer, engineer, mixer/remixer, songwriter/publisher, musician, and artist manager. As a peer, John understands how important it is to get the artist paid, beginning with ensuring their music aligns with their story, audience and brand.

His original songs have been published worldwide, and his myriad various credits can be found on the records of Michael and Janet Jackson, ’NSync (Justin Timberlake), Mariah Carey, Toni Braxton, Michael Bolton, Seal, Madonna, Annie Lennox and Diana Ross. He's worked with rock legends like producer Jack Douglas; R&B artists like Daryl Hall, Luther Vandross, Al Green and Mavis Staples; hip-hop pioneers like Doug E Fresh, Mantronix and EPMD; and made dance records for Chaka Khan, Technotronic, Dee-Lite, London Beat, Pet Shop Boys, Sounds of Blackness, CeCe Penniston, Frankie Knuckles and Crystal Waters.
