Karl Fowlkes, Esq. is an internationally recognized entertainment lawyer, music business professor and entrepreneur who has negotiated groundbreaking deals in the entertainment industries while remaining committed to disruption and new media.

Following a short stint at Bloomberg L.P. after law school, Karl boldly opened his own law practice, The Fowlkes Firm, and quickly became known for his advocacy for music producers, commitment to innovative deal structures for all creatives and education in the entertainment industry that has given creatives more business strategy tools than ever before. Over the course of a few years, The Fowlkes Firm negotiated over a combined $60 million worth of deals for artists, music producers, joint ventures and innovative record companies. The firm’s clients include artists, musicians, athletes, producers and creative companies that have amassed billions of streams, RIAA certifications and GRAMMY awards. Karl’s work has garnered appreciation from the likes of Boardroom, CNN, ABC News, Complex, Rolling Stone, The Source and Variety while also being named to Bloomberg Law’s 40 Under 40 List and a Top Music Attorney by Billboard.

In addition to building The Fowlkes Firm, Karl is an equity partner in EVGLE LLC, a full service recording, publishing and venture company home to chart-topping artist Blxst. At EVGLE, Karl, alongside Blxst and Vic Burnett, lead a talented and focused group disrupting the business of hip-hop, technology and venture.

When not building businesses, Karl has served as a Music Business Professor at the Billboard Recognized Music Industry Program at Drexel University. Karl's courses include: Hip-Hop Evolution, Music Publishing, Contracts in the Music Industry and Copyright Law. In addition to the courses he teaches at Drexel, his education initiatives throughout the entertainment and media business have been consistent and accessible. Karl has published 41 free articles on Medium along with 3 Free University Level Music Business Exams for executives, students and talent to sharpen up their music business skills.
