Marc Cimino

Marc Cimino is Chief Operating Officer of Universal Music Publishing Group (UMPG), one of the world’s leading global music publishing companies. A respected industry executive with more than 25 years of experience in both publishing and recorded music, Cimino has an outstanding track record of driving tangible results on behalf of songwriters and recording artists. With his leadership and guidance, UMPG has approximately tripled yearly revenues since he joined the company in 2015.

Cimino leads the company’s global business strategy and has responsibility for UMPG’s business across the most important developing territories in the world, including China where UMPG is rapidly strengthening. He continues to manage UMPG’s music licensing deals with the biggest and most popular platforms worldwide, including securing first-ever deals that create entirely new revenue streams for songwriters such as Spotify, TikTok, Meta, YouTube, Snap and more.

Cimino was instrumental in UMPG’s historic acquisition of Bob Dylan’s catalog, and the iconic signings of Jack White, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Presley, Pearl Jam, Prince, Linkin Park, Dave Matthews Band, Van Halen, Gucci Mane, Josh Groban, Sting, R.E.M. and more. Cimino also plays an instrumental role in the company’s film/TV publishing strategy. He executive produced the critically acclaimed HBO series "Music Box," Tupac Shakur documentary series "Dear Mama" and Pearl Jam documentary "Let’s Play Two."

Previously, during ten years at Warner Bros. Records, Cimino rose from Vice President to Executive Vice President. He served as head of Business and Legal Affairs and A&R Administration, directing strategy in both traditional and new business initiatives, including leading the company’s creation of an in-house merchandising division and serving as the lead business executive for the company’s Grammy winning documentary "Runnin’ Down a Dream." From 1998 to 2004, Cimino held business affairs and business development roles at Sony Music Entertainment.

He holds a B.A. from University of Maryland and J.D. from Seton Hall Law. He is currently an adjunct professor at UCLA and sits on the Board for WhyHunger, MPRS, the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music, and the Bob Dylan Center.
