ABOUT
Hailing from the soulful streets of Biloxi, Mississippi, and the vibrant energy of New Orleans, Suryah has always been surrounded by a rich blend of musical influences and cultural richness. "I grew up singing in church, surrounded by the sounds of gospel and soul," she shares, reflecting on her roots that run deep in both the performing arts and community-driven creativity. From an early age, she was destined to create, blending melodies and lyrics into an unshakable foundation for her artistry.
But Suryah's journey hasn’t been the typical path to stardom. In fact, it was a bold choice—turning down a prestigious music scholarship during her senior year of high school —to follow her own calling. At 18, she packed up and moved to Atlanta, determined to build something entirely her own. "There were nights when I'd leave the studio with no place to go, sometimes even sleeping in my car," she confides, her resilience a testament to the fire that fuels her dreams.
It didn’t take long for Suryah to carve out her space in Atlanta’s music scene. Her undeniable presence quickly caught the eye of industry giants, leading to collaborations with heavyweights like BIG BOI of OutKast. Working from the legendary Stankonia Recording Studios, she has been crafting a sound that is as boundary-pushing as it is unmistakably hers. Her music defies easy categorization, weaving together elements of House, R&B, Techno, Jazz, Gospel, and Alternative Pop—creating a sonic landscape as dynamic as the artist herself. Yet Suryah is more than just a musician. She’s a visionary in every sense of the word. A self-taught stylist and beauty enthusiast, she has a natural gift for hair, makeup, and fashion. Her sense of style, sharp eye for design, and knack for creative direction make her a force to be reckoned with in multiple creative spaces.
This multifaceted talent has led to Suryah becoming a true “Jill of All Trades,” one who doesn’t just wear many hats—she creates them. Whether it’s dancing, styling, content creation, or infusing artistry into every detail of her persona, Suryah embodies the very essence of versatility. Now, after captivating audiences across the South with her mesmerizing music and magnetic personality, Suryah is setting her sights on bigger stages, from the West Coast to international shores.
