Neeta Ragoowansi
President, Music Managers Forum-US & International Music Managers Forum
Neeta Ragoowansi has been an attorney and music business professional for over 30 years, serving as a strategic advisor, business development resource and legal counsel to clients across the entertainment, nonprofit and tech sectors. She is President of the Music Managers Forum – US (MMF-US), the 30+ year-old trade association for artist managers, and President of the International Music Managers Forum (IMMF), the global network organization connecting more than fifty music manager associations across Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia, Africa, Australia and New Zealand. Neeta also serves as a Global Co-Chair and Board Officer of Women in Music and is Co-Founder of NPREX (National Performing Rights Exchange), the first online platform for direct and micro-licensing of performance, mechanical and sync rights. In addition, she serves on the advisory boards of Gritty in Pink and the All About Music Conference (India).
Previously, Neeta held senior leadership and legal roles with Folk Alliance International (Executive Director), Global Citizen (Senior Counsel, Legal & Business Affairs), SoundExchange (Director of Artist-Label Relations & Legal Counsel), TuneSat (Vice President of Business Development & Legal Affairs), and The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and National Symphony Orchestra Association (Assistant General Counsel). She also served for more than a decade as a Board Governor of The Recording Academy (NY and DC Chapters).
A highly sought-after speaker and industry expert, Neeta has participated in more than 500 music industry conferences worldwide, speaking on topics addressing the global music business, licensing models, legal and copyright issues, rights management, artificial intelligence, and women’s leadership, equity and empowerment.
Her passion for music business and law is rooted in her own creative path. Neeta is a performing musician with the band Oxymorons and has earned recognition as first prize winner in the Rock Category of the Mid-Atlantic Songwriting Competition (USA), along with an honorable mention in Billboard’s Songwriting Contest.
Today, Neeta’s work increasingly focuses on emerging global challenges in the music industry, including efficient rights management, artificial intelligence and the growing importance of artist managers and their teams as key decision-makers and power brokers in the music business ecosystem. She is dedicated to connecting artist management teams and their communities to the latest music technologies and innovative industry partnerships, while continuing to prioritize fair and transparent systems that empower artists and their teams worldwide.
