Palisa Kelley
Managing Director, Business & Legal Affairs, HarbourView Equity Partners
Palisa Kelley is Head of Legal and Business Affairs at HarbourView Equity Partners. Prior to joining HarbourView, Palisa founded Kelley Law Group and later became a partner at Selverne Kelley Bradford, where her practice focused on advising and counseling clients in connection with the purchase and sale of music related assets. Palisa has extensive experience structuring and negotiating complex music transactions, having served as Counsel at Sony Music Entertainment and Vice President, Business & Legal Affairs at Sony Music Publishing. Prior to that, she was an associate at the boutique entertainment law firm Franklin Weinrib Rudell & Vassallo, where she handled a variety of entertainment transactions in addition to her core music responsibilities. Palisa began her legal career as a litigation associate at the law firm Paul Weiss Rifkind Wharton & Garrison. During her tenure there, she was part of the team representing ASCAP in rate setting proceedings with the Copyright Royalty Tribunal. Palisa received an A.B. in English and American Literature and Language from Harvard College, and a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania, where she was an Articles Editor of the University of Pennsylvania Law Review.

Cancel-Proof Catalogs? Managing Reputation Risk in a Hyper-Aware Market

Reputation risk is one of the most difficult areas to manage in music investments, but the effects can be devastating. Unlike other risks (like chain-of-title), there are often limited ways to conduct due diligence around a seller’s reputation, which leaves investors with difficult choices about managing this risk while maintaining a positive relationship with the seller. This panel will discuss how reputation risk can be investigated, and recourse can be managed through contract language, insurance, and other means of damage control.
