Peter Silberman

Singer, Songwriter, Guitarist and Producer

Peter Silberman is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, producer and the founder of beloved New York band The Antlers, which he first introduced in 2006 as a moniker for his solo recordings.

On October 10, 2025, The Antlers released their eagerly awaited new album Blight via Transgressive Records. The follow-up to 2021’s rustic, folk-tinged Green to Gold, Blight asks many questions without offering easy answers. Over the course of nine new songs, Silberman reckons with our passively destructive tendencies – absentminded pollution, unwitting wastefulness and the inadvertent devastation of the natural world. Robin Hilton @ NPR called it “the best thing they’ve done since Hospice,” the band’s 2009 breakthrough album.

Prior to the release of Blight, The Antlers undertook a collaborative co-headline tour with Okkervil River, playing sold out shows in North America and Europe. That collaboration culminated with the release of the live album Band Together, released via The Antlers’ label imprint Field’s Edge.

Over the last 20 years The Antlers have released seven studio albums, two live albums and several singles, working at various times with Anti Records, Transgressive and Frenchkiss, playing hundreds of shows spread over multiple continents.

In addition to his work with The Antlers, Silberman is also a member of Cowboy Sadness, a collaboration between David Moore (Bing & Ruth) and Nicholas Principe (Port St Willow). Cowboy Sadness released their debut album Selected Jambient Works, Vol. 1 in January of 2024. Cowboy Sadness has performed at Pioneer Works, Big Ears Festival, Opus 40 and Basilica Hudson.

Silberman also co-produced Wild Pink’s 2022 album ILYSM, marking his first foray into producing a record for another artist outside of the context of The Antlers or his solo work.

In collaboration with Nicholas Principe, Silberman provided the musical score to Malcolm Gladwell’s audiobook Talking To Strangers. The duo has also scored a number of podcasts including Slate’s “Slow Burn” and Luminary’s “Fiasco,” working under the name Spatial Relations.

Silberman lives in upstate New York.
