Theresa Notartomaso
Director of Music Production, VML
Theresa is a music production executive with more than 20 years of experience helping brands define their identities through sound. As Director of Music Production for VML North America, she oversees music initiatives for clients including Coca-Cola, AstraZeneca, Mazda, Unilever and Wendy’s. She believes music is not just background but an essential brand asset that creates emotional connections with audiences.
Theresa has produced memorable original compositions and negotiated innovative licensing deals for brands such as Cadillac, Heineken, TD Ameritrade, Citi, Procter & Gamble and Garnier. Whether developing a custom score or securing an iconic track, she ensures music strengthens the story a brand wants to tell.
Theresa has led music departments at Havas New York, Publicis New York and the Kaplan Thaler Group, and directed operations at boutique studio Headroom Digital Audio. She began her career as a Music Producer at J. Walter Thompson New York, where her passion for merging creativity and advertising first came into focus.
At VML, she continues to expand the role of music across campaigns while mentoring emerging producers and creatives. She is a strong advocate for collaboration between creative and music teams from the earliest stages of development, ensuring sound is woven into the DNA of a brand’s identity.
Beyond her work in advertising, Theresa writes and releases music under her own name, with more than 20 singles and millions of streams worldwide. This dual perspective — executive and artist — gives her unique insight into music as both a cultural language and a commercial tool.
Theresa’s career is defined by reinvention, curiosity and a belief in music’s power to inspire and connect. Whether in the conference room or the studio, she approaches every project with the conviction that the right piece of music can transform how people feel about a brand.
