ABOUT

Lightchild (born Mitsuko Alexandra Yabe) is a supervising music editor, music producer and composer with a decade of experience in film and television. She has contributed to critically acclaimed projects such as the Academy Award-winning feature "Weapons" (2025), Verity (2026), The Idea of You (2024), starring Anne Hathaway, Sorry to Bother You (2018), directed by Boots Riley, and The Crowded Room (2023), starring Tom Holland.

Drawing inspiration from Japan’s futurism and New York City’s vibrant art and music culture, she creates immersive soundscapes that bring stories to life. As a solo music artist, she blends J-pop, synth rock, and funk into dynamic, emotionally resonant compositions.

Her musical foundation began with classical violin training under Roberta Guaspari and Lynelle Smith at Opus 118 Harlem School of Strings. Early highlights include performing for Quincy Jones and President Obama, alongside appearances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center with the New York Philharmonic. These experiences inform her multidisciplinary approach to composition, performance, and audiovisual storytelling.

Beyond music, Lightchild explores hybrid-AI and traditional workflows for filmmaking through tools including Runway, Sora, and Higgsfield. She has worked with Tribeca Immersive in the past and pursued advanced studies in No-Code Artificial Intelligence at MIT. Across her projects, she brings together musical craft and a collaborative spirit to explore new possibilities at the intersection of art and technology.
