ABOUT
Mariami Bibilouri is the Founder and CEO of Sungate Records, a New York based, artist first music company built to create sustainable revenue and long-term opportunities for independent artists. Under her leadership, Sungate has emerged as a modern label services platform providing strategy, marketing, sync licensing, artist management, audience development, and brand positioning.
Known for her systems driven approach to artist development, Mariami leads a team versed in music, technology, culture, and storytelling. She builds practical infrastructure designed to replace outdated, access driven industry models with transparent, scalable, and execution focused frameworks. Her work empowers artists to think beyond individual releases and operate as self-sustaining creative businesses capable of cultivating loyal audiences, building cultural relevance, and generating diversified income across recordings, live performance, licensing, partnerships, and direct to fan channels.
In parallel with her executive work, Mariami is a recording artist recognized for her signature Indo-pop sound: a distinctive fusion of Georgian folk traditions, R&B, soul, and indie pop that feels both progressive and timeless. With more than 13 million Spotify streams, five number one singles across the United States and United Kingdom, and collaborations spanning Apple to Porsche, her music transcends borders while resisting easy categorization. Her work reflects the same qualities that define her leadership, originality, discipline, emotional intelligence, and a commitment to building something enduring.
Born in Tbilisi, Georgia, Mariami fled civil war at age six and relocated to the United States. That early experience of displacement, reinvention, and cultural duality continues to shape both her artistic voice and entrepreneurial perspective. She studied Musical Theatre at Emerson College, pursued songwriting studies at Berklee College of Music, and earned a master’s degree in music business from NYU’s Steinhardt School, combining formal training with nearly two decades of firsthand industry experience.
Mariami’s breakthrough as an artist came at age 29, when she secured a development deal with an Interscope executive that led to chart success across Europe. In 2021, she was inducted into Spotify’s Noteable League alongside celebrated songwriters including Carole King and John Legend. Since then, she has written thousands of songs, expanded her international audience, and earned recognition for her wide-ranging musical vocabulary, emotionally resonant writing, and boundary-pushing creative direction.
Her leadership reflects a belief that artists should not have to sacrifice autonomy, identity, or equity in order to access support and opportunity.
Through Sungate Records, Mariami is actively helping reshape the future of the music industry by advancing a more ethical, artist centered model grounded in ownership, transparency, strategy, and long-term vision. Her mission is to dismantle the structural barriers she once encountered and replace them with systems that allow artists to scale intentionally, retain power over their work, and build careers defined by creative excellence, informed decision making, and lasting independence.
