Michael Pinnisi provides dispute resolution, contract negotiation, corporate strategy and governance, internal company investigations, intellectual property, and other legal services for sophisticated clients across the country.
His professional experiences over a 40+ year career which are most relevant to this panel discussion include service as the Chief Legal Officer and Chief Operating Officer of the GoDigital Media Group, an international music rights monetization conglomerate, and as a federal criminal prosecutor in U.S. Attorney offices in Manhattan and Washington, D.C. where he prosecuted a number of financial crimes, and later opposed cases in that field as a white-collar criminal defense lawyer.
Michael also has experience in finance and corporate management, serving as both lawyer and business executive for billion-dollar-plus hedge fund Hudson Executive Capital as its General Counsel and Chief Operating Officer, and as the General Counsel and Vice President of Kionix, Inc., a world leader in microelectromechanical systems. As a Partner of Cadwalader, Wickersham & Taft he was an advisor to officers and directors of diverse public and private companies regarding corporate matters, litigation, and internal investigations of suspected misconduct.
Michael also served for years as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Cornell Law School on the subjects of litigation, general counsel practice, and ethics. He is a court-approved mediator of commercial disputes, and a named inventor in three issued U.S. Patents in fields of 3D printing and treatment of infectious diseases.
In all of his engagements, Michael prefers to leverage his broad experience to foresee problems and take proactive measure to prevent them rather than react to them after damage has been done.
