Luke Budiardjo

Judicial Law Clerk, Judge Pierre N. Leval

Luke Budiardjo is currently serving as a Judicial Law Clerk for Judge Pierre N. Leval of the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Luke�s academic work focuses on copyright law in the context of new and emerging technologies. Luke has published several articles with Professor Jane Ginsburg, including Authors and Machines (Berkeley Technology Law Journal), which explores how the use of machines and artificial intelligence intersects with the concept of authorship in U.S. copyright law. Luke has worked as an associate for Cooley, LLP in San Francisco, California, and more recently at Kirkland & Ellis LLP in New York, where he worked on a variety of intellectual property matters including a series of cases in which various plaintiffs asserted that the video games Fortnite and NBA 2K infringe, among other things, their copyrights in dance steps.
