She is best known for penning culturally resonant, female-empowerment anthems such as Christina Aguilera�s No. 1 hit, �What A Girl Wants� and Meredith Brooks� smash, �Bitch.� Shelly�s book �Confessions of a Serial Songwriter,� a humorous pop culture memoir about her journey � from young girl falling under the spell of magical songs to writing hits of her own earned her a second GRAMMY nomination for Best Spoken Word Album. Shelly is a proud founding member of SONA (Songwriters of N. America) a creators� rights advocacy organization fighting to protect the value of songs in a new music marketplace. She�s a native New Yorker, living in LA with her husband (composer Adam Gorgoni), 2 cats and missing her grown daughter.
