Lisa Weiss is a founding member of Chatillon Weiss PLLC. She specializes in corporate and commercial transactions in the media, entertainment, and digital media sectors, including merger and acquisition transactions, joint ventures, strategic alliances, license, distribution, development, master services, and other commercial agreements, debt and equity financings, and general corporate and strategic counsel. Her clients include companies in the music, music publishing, film, television, games, social media, advertising, digital distribution, and technology industries, as well as private equity investors active in those industries.

Lisa brings to her practice a combination of years of experience as a partner in large New York corporate law firms and as general counsel of a major music company. Prior to forming Chatillon Weiss, Lisa was a corporate/venture technology partner in Dentons US LLP's New York office, and previously served as Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of Sony Music Entertainment.

Lisa graduated from Columbia University School of Law (J.D.) and Yale University (B.A., Philosophy and Political Science). She is an active member of the Copyright Society of the USA and is admitted in New York.

An increasing number of companies are offering sales of fractional music rights, or micro-slices of rights in a composition or recording. These offerings are designed to provide liquidity to creators while simultaneously allowing fans to participate in real ownership of an artist’s work. However, these offering also come with complex legal challenges under both securities law and copyright law. This panel will discuss these legal issues, and how some of the companies in this space are addressing them.
