Brandon Tatum

Brandon Tatum, Esq. (J.D., LL.M., M.B.A.) is a multi-hyphenate lawyer, business executive, public speaker and performing artist with deep international experience in the entertainment and technology industries. He currently serves in a dual role as General Counsel, Head of Business & Legal Affairs at SM Kakao Entertainment America (an integrated, full-service entertainment company comprised of the former SM Entertainment USA and the former Kakao Entertainment America) and Kreation Music Rights (a global full-service music publishing company). He previously acted as General Counsel and VP/Global Head of Music for Gala Games (a leading Web3 gaming and entertainment company), Director of Business & Legal Affairs for SoundCloud (the world’s largest audio discovery platform), and Director of Business & Legal Affairs for SM Entertainment (the pioneer of modern K-Pop music and one of the most successful South Korean entertainment conglomerates).
He has been recognized by Billboard as a Top Music Lawyer in 2023 for his innovative work in the Web3 music industry and his integral support in expanding the K-Pop music industry into the Western Hemisphere. Additionally, Brandon spent 5 years living in Tokyo between 2013 and 2019 during which time he completed his M.B.A. at GLOBIS University (Japan’s largest graduate business school), worked heavily in the J-Pop and K-Pop music industries, and served as a foreign lawyer at “Big 4” Japanese law firm Anderson Mori & Tomotsune handling international commercial and technology transactions. He has led deals with some of the biggest names in the entertainment and technology industries. Brandon is a California-qualified attorney who holds a J.D. from the University of Southern California Law School and an LL.M. in International Intellectual Property Law from the London School of Economics & Political Science.
Brandon has dedicated his life and career to breaking through glass ceilings in business for Black people internationally and pushing forward DEIA initiatives. He firmly believes that the sincere valuing of diversity in business will be a key catalyst for the exponential advancement of society.
