John leads our investigations team, which is currently focused on exposing coordinated efforts to sway, confuse, and divide the US electorate ahead of the 2020 presidential election. He also helps journalists at Quartz and other news organizations use machine learning for their investigations as the head of the Quartz AI Studio. John came to Quartz from public radio station WNYC, where he was News Director and the Senior Editor for Data News. He�s the author of �Family Projects for Smart Objects� and teaches about prototyping, machine learning, and bots at the Craig Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY.
