The Guild of Music Supervisors is pleased and excited to announce its seventh year partnering with Mondo.NYC. Each October, Mondo & GMS New York bring together top music supervisors and creators in advertising, film and TV to help educate about the craft of music supervision. Please join us on Thursday October 17, 2024 at Brooklyn’s spectacular Arlo Williamsburg Hotel for an immersive day-long series of panels, round tables and case studies produced by GMS New York to keep up with the pulse of music supervision in NYC.

 

The day will be packed with rich and insightful conversation and learning, and we look forward to seeing you in Brooklyn, October 17!

Mission Statement: The Guild of Music Supervisors (“GMS”) partners with Mondo.NYC for its seventh annual one-day immersive education seminar as top music supervisors and the creative partners they collaborate with present case studies on the projects that they’ve been working on. Join us and meet, network and learn from some of the top music supervisors and industry executives in the fields of advertising, film, TV, video games and trailers about how they do what they do. Panelists include noted global, NYC and LA-based music supervisors, composers and sync and master licensing execs.

Guild of Music Supervisors is a non-profit organization with the mission to promote the craft of music supervision for the mutual benefit of all media stakeholders in film, television, games, advertising, trailers and emerging media. The Guild is an educational and professional resource for music supervisors and those working in related fields across the media spectrum. The Guild's NYC Education Event & Film Festival will explore the opportunities and challenges of supervision and sync & master licensing, and how related technologies like AI, blockchain and more may impact them.

Music has always been an integral part of video games but there are many games with a strong focus on music as part of the game play. We'll discuss the different types of uses and licensing models for video games as well as long-term marketing and playlisting strategies that can become important byproducts of the use of music in a video game, enhancing the popularity of a song. Video games are played over and over again, and in-game songs become embedded in the daily soundtrack of gamer's lives. Join us for a candid discussion about all aspects of music licensing for video games with leaders from some of today's most important gaming companies.

11am Crafting Brand Anthems: Music in Iconic Advertising

We delve into the creative process and collaboration involved in crafting the sound for brand "anthem" spots -- those iconic advertising campaigns that serve as a brand's manifesto or emotional centerpiece. Bringing together music creators (composers, producers, music houses) and creatives/music supervisors from ad agencies, the discussion explores the unique considerations, approaches and the multi-faceted teamwork required to bring these powerful brand stories to life.

Finding opportunities to write songs and create music for visual media projects is the holy grail for working musicians and creators. While creating custom music can be incredibly lucrative, more often than not it's incredibly frustrating due to the spec nature of the game. Learn valuable secrets from leading industry professionals, artists and composers along multiple points of this complicated ecosystem who have successfully cracked the code and are generating revenue on a daily basis.

Speaker:

GMS Award winning music supervisor Stephanie Diaz Matos has done it all…but she's far from done.

From working at legendary indie label London Records to music supervising in advertising at McGarry Bowen, co-founding Search Party Music, music supervising high-level TV series like Baz Lurhmann’s NY based birth of hip-hop series “The Get Down” to the Emmy-nominated drama series “P-Valley” to her current position as the head of Issa Rae’s music company Raedio, she has crafted an unbelievable career to date.

Please join us for a deep dive into her music supervision work as we look at Stephanie’s clips and discuss some of the favorite supe moments as well as what’s it’s like working with a multi-hyphenate talent like Issa Rae.
