Since being described by Complex as Trap’s Newest Star, the buzz surrounding Toronto’s Shah has spread globally. Shah's career was launched in Atlanta by institutions like Magic City and DJ Swamp Izzo, who also launched the careers of Gucci Mane, Future, and Migos. Shah's emergence continued to resemble the trail blazed by these Atlanta rap superstars as his local success spurred his popularity in nearby cities like Miami, where Buzzfeed named Shah one of Art Basel's most influential rappers.
The summer of 2019 provided Shah's first viral moment after footage surfaced of the shocked response to Shah's Dominican slang song Telemundo. The song became an internet sensation and Shah was embraced by New York's Latino community, leading to moments such as Shah performing Telemundo for hundreds of thousands of revellers at New York's annual Dominican Day Parade. Telemundo was Shah's first major success outside of the South and resulted in new opportunities, including Ghostwriter, a television series based on Shah's journey which will begin airing in 2021. Shah is an unwavering feminist and longstanding champion for marginalized people.
