Gavin Lurssen
President, Lurssen Mastering, Inc.
Gavin Lurssen is the president and principal engineer at Lurssen Mastering in Los Angeles. He is a twelve-time Grammy nominee and a four-time Grammy winner. His Grammys include two for Album Of The Year for “Raising Sand,” performed by Robert Plant and Alison Krauss and the soundtrack of “O Brother Where Art Thou?” He also won in Best Historical category for his work on the box set that accompanied the PBS television series, “Martin Scorsese Presents The Blues,” and he was awarded a Latin Grammy for his work on Diego Torres’ album “Distinto.”
Artists whose albums Gavin has mastered include the Foo Fighters, Ben Harper, Queens of the Stone Age, Eric Clapton and Sara Bareilles, to name just a few. Soundtracks he has worked on include all the Game of Thrones episodes, The Mandalorian, Tenet, Captain Marvel, Black Panther, The Hunger Games and Westworld.
Gavin has served three terms on the LA Chapter of the Board of Governors at The Recording Academy (The GRAMMYS) with duties including the chairing of the Education Committee and leading meetings with members of congress to help secure and enhance artists’ royalty rights and being a participant in many mentoring programs on university campuses. He regularly leads and takes part in discussion panels throughout the United States and internationally through organizations like SXSW, The Recording Academy and AES. In addition he gives back to the community through various organizations including MusiCares and A Place Called Home.
Gavin is a graduate of Berklee College of Music in Boston. He received a Distinguished Alumni award from the college and routinely participates in college programs as a guest lecturer.
