Leigh M. Smith is a computer scientist, researcher and software developer of music information retrieval (MIR), audio signal processing, artificial intelligence, computer graphics, and cryptography systems. He has worked on multiple commercial music software projects, including iZotope.com, LANDR.com and Humtap.com, and is currently senior research engineer at SubPac.com, based in NYC, where his focus is on translating musical audio into tactile, wearable experiences of music, utilizing machine learning of musical audio. He has previously worked in academia with the Music Cognition Group at the Universiteit van Amsterdam and Analysis/Synthesis Group at IRCAM, Paris, and presented at several universities on music perception, cognition and MIR, with a focus on analysis and modeling of musical rhythm for interactive performance systems.
