Daniel Rowland
Head of Strategy and Partnerships, LANDR
Daniel Rowland is an LA-based audio engineer/producer, educator, visual artist, and tech executive. He holds both a B.S and M.F.A. in Music Technology and is currently Head of Strategy and Partnerships at Montreal’s LANDR Audio and longtime professor at MTSU in Nashville.
Daniel has been part of numerous international tours; produced the music for an Oscar-winning Pixar film; and mastered multiplatinum/Grammy-nominated albums, while working on projects as varied as Nine Inch Nails, Seal, Meek Mill, Bhad Bhabie, Philip Glass, David Foster, Gayle, Gucci Mane, Gwen Stefani, and The Sandbox (metaverse/gaming), along with dozens of Disney properties such as Star Wars and Marvel.
Longtime collaborator with iconic musician Adrian Belew (David Bowie, King Crimson, Talking Heads, Frank Zappa), Daniel originally branched into tech with the development of Belew's interactive, ever-evolving audiovisual album Flux, and companion iOS FX processing app.
Approached by LANDR while speaking at SXSW in 2014, Daniel has now helped to grow LANDR to nearly 4.5 million users, working to refine their AI mastering engine and develop numerous virtual instruments, plugins, and other products, while crafting acquisition and partnership deals with a wide range of startups and iconic brands/artists.
His current focus is on immersive audio, recently opening Immersive Mixers with renowned film trailer mixer Matt Guiler (Spiderman: No Way Home, Jumanji, Uncharted), as well as on Web3 and AI for helping new creators enter the music industry and better monetize their work.
Daniel has spoken on the present and future of music technology at conferences such as SXSW, Mondo.NYC, A3E, NOLA Music Tech, NAMM, A3C and the ASCAP Expo, as well as in Billboard, and is a voting member of the Recording Academy.
