Michael Poster, the head of M&R’s Corporate & Securities Department, represents clients in corporate and financing transactions, including mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, venture capital investments, and debt and equity financings, with a focus on music industry deals. Michael focuses on bridging the gap between traditional corporation transactions and the music industry.

Michael also facilitates the purchase and sale of music companies and recording and publishing catalogs, as well as private equity acquisitions, venture capital investment, joint ventures and bank financing in the music space. Particularly versed in asset-based lending and the use of copyrights and other intellectual property as collateral in finance transactions, Michael’s roster of clients includes financial institutions, record labels, music publishers, entertainment-focused investment firms, and technology companies.

Michael was included in Billboard Magazine's list of ""Top Music Lawyers"" in 2018, 2019 and 2020, and was named a ""Legal Trailblazer"" by the New York Law Journal in 2020.

Education

Michael Poster earned his J.D. from New York University School of Law, where he was the recipient of the Jack J. Katz Memorial Award for academic excellence in the field of entertainment law. Michael received his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, magna cum laude, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
