Al Risi

Partner, Head of Music Supervision, Groove Guild

Al Risi unites three decades of experience in the music industry with a genuine awe of music’s power to move people and create indelible memories.

Risi began his career at Universal Music Group, where he helped develop the careers of Beck, Eminem, Counting Crows, Blink 182 and Weezer, among others. His twelve-year tenure on the label side also included a two-year stint as a Product Manager for Higher Octave Music (EMI), overseeing marketing strategy for the label’s roster of artists. The next chapter of Risi’s career took him on a new adventure where he worked for world class music houses, a top independent publisher and various other companies, all focused on connecting music with brands.

In 2013, he founded Groove Guild, a boutique music agency that creates and curates music and sound for all media. Groove Guild has provided supervision, original music, sound design and sonic strategy services for some of the world’s biggest brands including Volkswagen, Apple, Google, SpaceX, Coca-Cola and Instagram. Groove Guild's work for Volkswagen has garnered several awards including top honors from Association of Music Producers (AMP Awards), The Clios (Clio Music) and Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP). Their work for Instagram was honored with the “Most Effective Use of Music in a Campaign” award by Association of Music Producers (AMP Awards). Beyond his role at Groove Guild, Al is a long serving member on the East coast board of the Guild of Music Supervisors and the National board of the Association of Music Producers (AMP). He has also participated in the NYC Mayor's Action Plan for Neighborhood Safety (MAP) as a mentor.
