Blackstone Chambers

I am a King's Counsel, who has practiced as a member of Blackstone Chambers for 40 years. I was Co-Head of Chambers for 7 years between 2004 and 2011. My areas of practice expertise have included media and entertainment (including both contract and copyright issues) since 1985. During the past 37 years, I have acted for all the major record and music publishing companies in the UK and their representative bodies and collecting societies, as well as very many internationally well known recording artists, songwriters and managers. Most recently, my clients have included Bob Geldof (in relation to the authorship of the music of "I Don't Like Mondays"), Dua Lipa, the members of Coldplay and the co-writers of "Shape of You" (in connection with their dispute with Sami Chokri).

I live in London with my wife of 35 years. We have three sons. I am a passionate supporter of the performing arts in the UK and an equally passionate consumer (and collector) of the wines of Burgundy.

10/14/22, 3:00 PM

In this program, you will hear from counsel at the forefront of music cases on both sides of the pond. Panelists include those who successfully represented Ed Sheeran in this year's landmark "Shape of You" case at the English High Court. Join us as we examine the latest developments and trends in music litigations, and how they may impact legal strategies, risk assessments, enforcement efforts, and deals in today's music space. (Mondo attendees are welcome to attend all CLE panels.)
