Sy Damle is a partner in the Copyright Litigation and Counseling group at Latham & Watkins, where he specializes in software infringement, music licensing and regulatory matters. He represents much of the digital music streaming industry including Spotify, Pandora, SoundCloud, iHeartMedia, Twitch, Triller, the Digital Media Association and the Digital Licensee Coordinator. He was named to Billboard's Top Music Lawyers list in 2020 and 2021 and last year was named one of New York's Top Entertainment Lawyers by The Hollywood Reporter.

Prior to joining Latham & Watkins, Sy was the General Counsel and Associate Register of Copyrights at the U.S. Copyright Office, where he was responsible for the agency’s litigation, regulatory and other legal work. Prior to that he was a litigator at the U.S. Department of Justice, where appeared as lead counsel in more than 40 appeals focusing on intellectual property, administrative law and constitutional matters.

Sy earned his JD from the University of Virginia, where he graduated first in his class. He served as a clerk for Judge Sandra L. Lynch of the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Sy also holds systems engineering and business degrees from the University of Pennsylvania.
