ABOUT

Robert Levine is a writer and editor who was the deputy editor of Billboard, where he worked from 2019 to 2026, running Billboard Pro and leading the publication’s music business coverage. He is the author of Free Ride: How Digital Parasites are Destroying the Culture Business, and How the Culture Business Can Fight Back, which the New York Times Book Review called “a book that should change the debate about the future of culture.” He has worked as a features editor at Wired and New York; contributed to Vanity Fair, Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Fortune and BusinessWeek; and offered commentary about the media business for NPR, the BBC, and CNN. He holds a B.A. in politics from Brandeis and an M.S.J. from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. First he took Manhattan and then he moved to Berlin, where he now lives.
