The Guild of Music Supervisors is pleased and excited to announce its sixth year partnering with Mondo.NYC. Each October, Mondo & GMS New York bring together many of the top music supervisors in advertising, film and TV to help educate about the craft of music supervision. Please join us on Thursday October 12th at Brooklyn’s spectacular Williamsburg Hotel for an immersive day-long series of panels, round tables and case studies produced by GMS New York to keep up with the pulse of music supervision in NYC.

The day will be packed with rich and insightful conversation and learning, and we look forward to seeing you in person for the first time in three years in Brooklyn!

GMS 2022 Panel Agenda

10:00 AM How Tech Makes Your Life Better: Music Industry Edition

11:00 AM But Can It Sound Spanish? – An Exploration of Intentional Inclusion of Latine Voices in Sync
A panel of Latine sync professionals join in a discussion about cultural awareness in music supervision and sync licensing. With the rise of productions focusing on the Latine experience and Latine music mega stars, is the sync community following the necessary steps to honor the intersections of what Latin is and reflecting its multifaceted identities? This exploration will touch on building awareness of common misconceptions while shining light on what steps to take toward intentional practices to build inclusive and genuine soundtracks.

12:00 PM So... What's It Like on the Inside? An NYC Agency Music Supervisor Roundtable
Advertising Agencies are mysterious places. How does anything get done and how does great work get made? Does it always see the light of day? NYC-based agency music supervisors come together for a focused conversation about their day to day in the trenches with copy writers, art directors, brand clients, editors, composers, artists and more.

1:00 PM Lunch

2:30 PM The Big Sweep: Some of the Best of 2022 in Advertising So Far
Hear from music supervisors at the helm of some of the most exciting and innovative work released over the past year in advertising.

3:30 PM Crafting Niche Music Soundtracks for Film/TV

Is weaving the perfect soundtrack akin to method acting? How do you inhabit the minds of the people portrayed on screen and select the right music to support or drive their stories? Hear NYC music supervisors from across a spectrum of diverse film and TV work discuss their approaches to the craft.

4:30 PM DEI in Sync: Building the Industry We Imagine
Join us for a conversation amongst sync community members on where we're at with DE&I progress. Engaging with representatives of organizations such as Sync to Change, WOC in Synch, and AMP DE&I, we will discuss tangible steps toward change that have been made and collectively consider what institutional progress looks like.
